Caroline and Nathan :: Engagement Session

Being romantics ourselves, we love photographing people in love! Capturing true, authentic moments between two people that respect, admire and adore each other - that's a good day at work for us! We really enjoyed our engagement session with Caroline and Nathan for those very reasons. What a sweet couple! Their session made us even more excited to photograph their upcoming wedding this Spring. Thank you Caroline and Nathan for warming up a cold morning with all your cute affection for one another. We look forward to more moments like these!

Our 2016 in photos

It is always exciting and humbling to look back over our work at the end of the year. We have the amazing opportunity to meet so many people during some of their most significant moments. We are very grateful to be invited into your lives!

2016 gave us some beautiful weddings to photograph! As a married couple ourselves over the past 16 years, we are huge fans of love. Capturing two people at the beginning of their life commitment to each other is such a special thing! Here are some of our favorite wedding shots from this past year.

We had the pleasure of meeting so many high school seniors this year! We love shooting Senior photo sessions. It is a concentrated session on one person in this very exciting time in their life and we love having the chance to make them feel seen for who they are as they move into their future. Here are some of our favorite shots from our seniors.

We always enjoy our times photographing families and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to photograph families repeatedly over the years. We love the watching kiddos grow over time! We also get to meet fantastic new families each year. Here are some highlights of our family sessions.

We also had some fantastic sessions with couples in love. It is always so much fun capturing two people in love and we had some fun photoshoots this year.

We had fun working with more school teams again this year. We also had some wonderful events that we were honored to photograph. See some of our highlights below.

We also opened our in-home studio in 2016 and started booking sessions indoors. It has been an adventure since we have focused on natural light photography over the past 10 years but we have enjoyed the flexibility when Midwest weather isn't cooperating. We also had fun offering our first holiday mini sessions this year! We hope to get more use out of it in the new year!

We're so grateful to all of our wonderful clients, friends and supporters. From us to you, Happy New Year!

2015: The Year of Change

About a month ago, we had to make the absolutely horrible decision to put our loving four-legged companion of 15 years, Dreyfuss, to sleep. It's the worst that pets don't live nearly as long as we humans do, but that's how it is and we have to cope.

Almost immediately following that devastating experience, we set out on a vacation to the Pacific Northwest to celebrate our 15-year anniversary. We spent time in Portland: exploring the city, taking day trips to the coast and to the Columbia River Valley to hike amongst old growth forests and waterfalls. We traveled North of Seattle to Whidbey Island, a quaint island nestled almost to the Canadian border, where we relaxed, read books by the ocean, hiked more and talked.

Our past 15 years have been a blessing. It hasn't always been easy, but I think we would both admit that our love is magnitudes of order deeper than it was when we first got married.

As I returned to work, something wasn't right. Perhaps I got stirred by the book that I was reading over vacation (Paddle Your Own Canoe by Nick Offerman, by the way) or maybe it was something that had been brewing for a while, but ultimately it led to me leaving my job at AMC to focus 100% of my time and effort on our photography business.

This business has been something that has been a part of our life for the past decade. Over the past few years, we've steadily gotten busier and are really excited about this next step. We plan to open a studio in our house later this fall and are already booking weddings for 2016.

Jumping into this endeavor without a net...it's scary to be sure. But we've had so much amazing support in our photography business over the years and have received so many positive notes of encouragement over the past several weeks that we feel confident in this change, no matter how large it is.

Bring on 2016!
